The Precious Metal Verifier can be used to measure the bulk metal in a bullion bar or coin and ensure that the metal matches the electrical characteristics that would be expected of it. It can be used to detect and prevent precious metal fraud, measure underneath the surface of coins and bars testing the interior metal. The Sigma can also assist in determining numismatic authenticity, and featured a new measurement mode which provides a digital readout of the measured value.
The Verifier can assess a sample in less than one second without affecting the coin or bullion in any way. No chemicals are used and no physical damage is done to the coin or bullion being tested. Unlike in other testing methods, plating and surface features do not significantly impact the unit's ability to measure the underlying metal. Using electromagnetic waves that penetrate deeply into the coin or bar, plating and surface features are largely ignored, and the main body of metal assessed. The Verifier can see through plastic cases and bags, so numismatic coins do not need to be removed from protective holders.
Different sized sensors are used for different sized samples. The biggest sensor is in the main housing and is used for large samples, like 1-ounce coins and bars. To measure smaller objects one of two external wands is connected to the main unit via a cable. The large wand is used for coins weighing between ¼ and 1 ounce. The small wand can be used for smaller samples, such as 1-gram bars and CombiBars, 1/10-ounce coins, and the like.
The user selects the metal that the sample is expected to be. The Verifier sets the value of that metal’s resistivity to the center of the bar display. The bar display has brackets that show the expected range of the reading for the selected metal. So, for example, if the user selects pure gold as the metal, and pure gold is placed on the sensor, a value within the brackets will be obtained. Virtually any other metal with a similar weight will fall far outside this range. If the actual reading does not correspond to the expected reading, an arrow will show up on the bar display.
Many standard metals are stored in the Precious Metal Verifier and can be selected by the user. For example, for gold coins the user can select pure gold, 22 K gold, 90% gold, or American eagle gold; for silver, pure silver, sterling silver, 90% silver. and Britannia silver. Pure platinum, palladium, rhodium, and copper also have stored values. Each of these coin and bullion metals will produce a unique reading on the Precious Metal Verifier. Even small changes in alloy make a big difference in the readings on the Precious Metal Verifier.

Returns Policy
Bullion Exchanges reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to accept or deny the return request and may require you to pay for the return shipping along with a 10% restocking fee.
Once you complete a purchase, your price is locked-in and you may not cancel or modify your order afterwards. The submission of an order and subsequent receipt of a confirmation locks in your order and affects our metal hedging requirements and thus we are unable to make any price adjustments. We will not charge you additional money if the price goes up, therefore if the price goes down, we do not credit you the difference.
Our in-house numismatist staff assign conditions to all products. The condition assigned to the products is derived from industry-wide standards. Please keep in mind that most images are stock images, and therefore you should not expect to receive the pictured products.
Silver products, and some gold as well, may exhibit milk spots, and/or toning, which are normal and do not change the condition described in the listing, nor the value of the product.
Coins that are holdered by one of the major grading companies are graded based on the condition they were in at the time of grading. However, at times, coins do tend to develop spotting or toning which are a normal happenstance in coins. Please keep in mind, the appearance of the toning and/or milk spots does not mean that the coin is not the grade specified on the actual slab. In instances where there is a discrepancy where the customer believes to be unjust, please refer to the grading company’s guarantee policy. Both NGC and PCGS have a program where they will compensate the owner of the current coin if they believe the coin deserves a lower grade than it had originally received.
Only those items that were damaged in transit, or where the wrong item was delivered, may be returned within 14 days from the date of receipt, to Bullion Exchanges for a refund or exchange.
Bullion Exchanges is not required to provide the buyer with an exchange. We will provide you with an exchange or a full refund for the purchase at our own discretion.
Please note, bullion coins, bars and rounds are mass-produced and are not struck to the same quality standards as collector coins. Bullion items are often shipped directly from the mint and new items will often have minor imperfections. These bullion products are not certified and therefore will not always be 100% perfect.
